After finally deciding on your dream wedding dress for your big day it’s time to turn your attention to finding that perfect bridal lingerie.
For those recently celebrating an Engagement, thoughts quickly turn to the Wedding Gown but what you wear beneath your dress can make a huge impact on the overall look, so your wedding underwear is almost as important as the dress itself.
If you devote just a small amount of time and research into the best lingerie styles to suit both you and your gown, you can achieve the perfect look you’ve always imagined for your wedding day!
Some points to consider and get you started;
Your Bridal lingerie must complement the wedding gown.
Whatever bridal underwear you decide upon it must work in harmony with both you and your chosen style of wedding dress.
A close fitting, or thinner material style gown will easily show any heavy boning, ribs or seam lines, so a light basque or even seamless bustier would work well.
It almost goes without saying, open neck/ off the shoulder style dresses will send you toward the strapless bra or even strapless corset if you want to pull your waist in a little bit.
Although strapless in design, chosen well and correctly fitted you can get ample support and comfort from many strapless lingerie options.
Choose for comfort as well as looks
Of course how your wedding lingerie makes you look is an important factor but so is your own comfort whilst you’re wearing it, remember you may well be in your dress for up 10 – 12 hours on your day.
Ensure you get good support from your bridal underwear as well as the overall comfort, wear it, move around in it, sit down in it, stand back up and ask yourself; Is it comfortable? Does it move around a lot or does it move with you? Do you feel supported? Is this your perfect bridal lingerie?
Don’t leave lingerie to the last minute.
By all means find your perfect bridal lingerie soon enough in your stages of wedding preparations and buy it later on, maybe just before your final dress fitting.
It’s certainly not recommended to leave it to just 1-2 weeks before the actual wedding. Make sure you give yourself enough time to wear it in and feel comfortable.
Don’t forget the details
Last little tip – Have a spare pair of stockings or hold ups, (if they’re part of the outfit!), close to hand on the wedding day, just in case of any unwanted nicks or ladders. That one was from my own wedding experience!
